Pakistani television show gives away real babies as prizes

A Pakistani show that gives away babies on live television is causing controversy among viewers for turning children into prizes， but the creators say it’s a good deed that makes parents happy.

巴基斯坦一個送出寶寶的現場直播電視節目，因為將小孩變成獎品而引發爭議，但製作者表示，這是讓為人父母者高興的良善行為。

CNN reported the show， which broadcasts seven hours a day during Ramadan， vets parents seeking an adopted child and gives some of them babies during the broadcast.

美國有線電視新聞網（CNN）報導，這個在齋戒月每天播出7小時的節目，審查想領養孩子的父母，並在節目播出時將寶寶送給其中一些人。

The children come from a non-governmental organization， the Chhipa Welfare Association， which often finds abandoned babies， according to CNN.

CNN說，孩子是來自時常發現棄嬰的非政府組織「奇帕福利協會」。

But not everyone is pleased. "A good thing done in reckless manner is not good， human beings are not trophies，" Facebook user Yasin Janjua posted online. "This is not okay， it is child abuse，" another user posted.

However， CNN reported the show is very popular and the welfare association said each couple registers and passes screening in advance.

It says it receives up to 15 abandoned babies a month. "Our team finds babies abandoned on the street， in garbage bins -- some of them dead， others mauled by animals. So why not ensure the baby is kept alive and gets a good home?" said Ramzan Chhipa， who runs the organization.

該機構指出，1個月最多拾獲15名棄嬰。「我們的人在街頭、垃圾桶內找到被丟棄的嬰兒—某些已經死瞭，另一些被動物所傷。所以何不確保讓嬰兒活下去，並找到一個好傢庭？」經營該組織的拉姆贊．奇帕說。
