說好的 myTV 呢?

這則新聞不關六嬸或者李寶安的事, 但或多或少同myTV難產有關..
話說英國BBC有一個類myTV的軟體名叫iPlayer, 可以直播英國本土的電視及電台節目. 除iOS, Android之外, 一些英國專用的TV機頂盒(SkyView?)或者多媒體機頂盒(Roku?)都有專用版本的iPlayer, 但就是缺了Windows Phone. 當眾人期待Nokia插手可以加快令iPlayer 上架之際, 一封e-mail令我地意識到WP7版iPlayer(或者myTV)經已玩完
一封BBC官方發出, 說明WP版iPlayer難產嘅理由:
1)WP用以live streaming的"技術"有别於iOS及Android, 雖然iOS及Android各自都有其獨家"技術", 但後二者可以X-platform互用(While Android and Apple also use their own app technologies, the TV and radio programmes themselves can be created once and used across both, so much of the investment is reusable). 而WP版本則需要重頭寫起, 成本效益不高.
2)WP8–因為MS新近發佈與WP7不同的WP8, 所以要等WP8推出才寫iPlayer(另一篇文的作者有指出BBC無聽清楚MS表明WP8是向後兼容WP7 app–就如Nikon F-mount相機一様)
3)最後得出結論是IE有一條臭虫令到WP不能用web-based的方式達成Live-streaming—-"there’s a bug in Windows Phone that prevents our standards(web)-based media from being played on those devices", 而MS已知道這條臭虫存在一段時間(ie. >1year)
信中BBC亦表明其對WP版iPlayer持開放態度, 表示當上述問題得到解決後, 他們將樂意推出WP8版本的iPlayer. 而WP7版本雖然無指明已經夭折, 但相信已經"被自殺"…


所以各位, myTV相信好一段時間都上唔到架鳥…=[
