1.
I bought the kids a treat at Trader Joe's,
A simple thing: A little tin of candy,
A dollar each. As any parent knows,
This sort of thing can come in really handy,
Whenever there is fighting in the car.
It really doesn't matter where you are.
2.
The car has little pockets in the door,
For riders in the back, for little storage.
I'm not too certain what they're really for.
They're filled with rubber bands, and change, and forage.
My son has several acorns on his side;
By now I'm sure that all of them have died.
3.
Today I had a meeting out of town.
I had to drive, to meet prospective clients.
I spent the morning trying on a frown:
Commuting, to discuss the firm's compliance,
Just wasn't how I'd planned to spend the day.
So grumping, grouching, moaning all the way...
4.
I heard the tin of candy in the door.
Reminding me of what the trip was for. |
