編自奇幻小說《雨果的秘密》（The Invention of Hugo Cabret），故事主角是一個生活在30年代法國巴黎的12歲孤兒雨果卡柏瑞，他住在火車站的高牆內，在熙來攘往的人群中穿梭，藏身於大鐘後方，冷眼觀察來往過客，隱姓埋名，滿腦子秘密。他的父親在修理博物館機器人的過程中離奇死去，為了找出父親留給他的資訊，雨果也開始修理這個機器人，然而這卻引出更複雜、驚人的秘密，雨果的命運即將就此改變。
