The Croods is a prehistoric comedy adventure that follows the world’s first family as they embark on a journey of a lifetime when the cave that has always shielded them from danger is destroyed. Traveling across a spectacular landscape, the Croods discover an incredible new world filled with fantastic creatures — and their outlook is changed forever. The soundtrack includes a new hit single by Owl City feat. Malaysian singer-songwriter Yuna: “Shine your way”. Owl City’s music is often described as being indietronica and synthpop and belonging under the “electronic music” label. Owl City is mostly known for its quadruple-platinum hit single “Fireflies”, released in 2009. The soundtrack score was composed by American film music composer and conductor Alan Silvestri, who works primarily in film and television. Silvestri has received two Academy Award nominations, one for Best Original Score for Forrest Gump (1994) and one for Best Original Song for “Believe” on The Polar Express soundtrack. He has also received four Grammy Award nominations, winning two awards, and two Golden Globe nominations: Best Score for Forrest Gump and Best Song for The Polar Express. He is best known for his frequent collaboration with director Robert Zemeckis, including composing major hit films such as the Back to the Future trilogy, Forrest Gump and Cast Away. His soundtrack to Forrest Gump was released on Sony Music in 1994 and has sold over 366,000 units to date; the soundtrack to Back to the Future was released on Sony Music in 1999 and has sold over 117,000 units to date (ex.US).
